Eastern Rails: Ankara – Kars Train Tour

A journey by sleeper car through snowy Eastern Anatolia: Erzurum, Kars and the ruins of Ani, with a horse-sleigh ride on Lake Çıldır.

Tour programme

1. Departure from Ankara by train, dinner in the sleeper car and on-board talks
2. Erzurum: Twin Minaret Madrasa, Three Tombs and a coffee break at Palandöken
3. Arrival in Kars, Kars Castle and Russian architecture, cheese and honey tasting
4. Ruins of Ani, horse-sleigh ride on Lake Çıldır and a fish lunch
5. Kars – Ankara return journey (flight or train option)

Price, departure and booking

The tour price is 12.500 TRY per person in a twin room; the single-room supplement is 3,600 TRY. Transport is by train and the duration is 4 nights. No visa is needed on this tour; a passport (and ID if required) is enough. Departure plan: December – March, two departures a month. 12 places remain; you can secure your place with a deposit and gain a 20% early-booking discount on bookings 60 days ahead.
